New York jewelry designer Anna Hu of Chinese descent has been highly recommended by Christie’s and two of her works, the Alexandrina earrings and the Moonlight bracelet has been auctioned on Oct. 28, 2009 in Dubai, Christie’s Auction.

Christie’s Fine Art Auction House is known for their extreme strict selection of designers and lot, and world-renowned masters have the strength to stand out from the selected artists. The Dubai Christie’s unexpectedly threw all the focus toward the 32-year-old Chinese jewelry designer, Anna Hu, who fascinated celebrities of New York and Hollywood, known as the Vera Wang in jewelry industry.

In recent years, Anna Hu, the world’s most spectacular new star in jewelry design has long been a target of the sharp Christie’s, David Warren, director of jewelry for Dubai and London has a good word for this young genius.  This year, under the kind invitation of Mr. Warren, Anna Hu came to Dubai, Christie’s most important International Jewelry & Watch market. Born in 1977 in Taiwan, Anna Hu has followed his father who is engaged in the business of precious stones to look for rare treasures around the world from young age. With excellent artistic talent, Anna Hu has dream of becoming a good musician and received numerous awards playing cello in Taiwan, and went to well-known music school in the United States. After tendinitis in the shoulders forced her to give up her musician dream, she devoted herself into jewelry design. Having received her master degree of Graduate Gemologist in Gemological Institute of America and relative degrees in Parsons School of Design and Columbia University, Anna Hu has worked for Christie’s, Van Cleef & Arpels and Harry Winston. During her stay in Harry Winston, Anna has met the legendary jewelry designer Maurice Galli who accepted Anna as his only student and encouraged her to start her own business. In December 2008, 31-year-old Anna has opened her Anna Hu Haute Joaillerie in Royal Castle Hotel in New York. Now, Anna creates no more than 30 pieces every year, only for private collection.

Anna Hu’s designs have been sought after in the most high-end overseas markets, many celebrities in New York and Hollywood are her royal fans, such as Madonna, Drew Barrymore, Jada Smith, Debra Messing and Lucy Lu, the royal families of the Middle East also placed orders to her.

The beautiful Alexandrina earrings get its name from Queen Alexandrina Victoria, a piece of Anna Hu’s Modern Regina Collection; while the Moonlight bracelet gets its inspiration from Beethoven’s famous Sonata Fantasy, made more famous as German poet and music critic Ludwig Rellstab renamed it as the Moonlight Sonata, the piece that Anna played most as a kid.
